Jereh 3.5”Large-diameter Coiled Tubing Skids Applied for Deep Sea No.1 Project

On June 25th, the Deep Sea No. 1 gas field, with a maximum operational water depth exceeding 1,500 meters and proven geological reserves of natural gas exceeding hundreds of billions of cubic meters, became operational on Friday.

It is expected to provide 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to regions including Guangdong and Hainan provinces and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and it will be able to meet one-fourth of gas demand for domestic use in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

And as a vital part of offshore oil and gas production systems, the difficulty of laying undersea pipelines and pre-commissioning rises with seabed movement, geography, pressure and temperature. Jereh and Offshore Oil Engineering (COOEC) jointly developed and manufactured China’s first 3.5-inch large-diameter coiled tubing skids for this project.

The 3.5-inch large diameter coiled tubing skid has passed the CCS certification, and it is designed with Jereh’s newly developed quick-change sprocket, levelwind, high-strength two-way screw structure and tubing guide, which can improve work efficiency and effectively reduce the damage by tubing swing on the clamping block and tubing.

Also the skid has been improved in terms of drive mode and control system. It has many advantages such as large tube diameter, low resistance, low cost, fast pipeline recovery speed, and strong deep sea pressure resistance.

Deep water is considered to be more than 300 meters below sea level, and at more than 1,500 meters below the sea level, it is known as ultra-deep water. The operation of Deep Sea No. 1 will push forward China's energy transition and upgrading, while boosting its ultra-deep sea resource development. It also will play an integral part in the nation's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint from the power sector and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

As a leading well service equipment manufacturer, Jereh will continue to make breakthroughs on more intelligent and competitive oil and gas field equipment solutions, and help energy development more efficient, safer and cleaner.
